If ‘TOFU’ is said by a marketing manager in a meeting with non-marketing folks, someone always asks, ‘what is TOFU?’ which is then answered by another overly eager employee explaining that it means ‘Top of the funnel’ as if it were a race to see who is the smartest person in the room. Another colleague's natural reflex kicks in and quickly states that there's also ‘Bottom of the funnel (BOFU) but because it’s not a catchy food related acronym, no one ever brings it up unless TOFU is brought up first. After 5 minutes of this exact scenario, non-marketing folks equate TOPU to content.
